That communication depends on:

• Firewall or antivirus settings

From experience, the most common causes are:

• Wrong port (WSD instead of TCP/IP)
• Network connection drops
• Printer not set as default
• Firewall blocking
• IP address changes

Step 1: Restart Everything (Quick Reset)

Start simple. This fixes temporary issues.

Do this:

1. Turn off the printer
2. Restart your computer
3. Restart your router
4. Turn printer back on

Step 2: Set Ricoh Printer as Default

Windows sometimes switches printers automatically.

• Replace cable

Printer is using WSD port

WSD:

• Automatic setup

Solution: Switch to TCP/IP Port

Steps:

1. Go to Devices and Printers
2. Right-click Ricoh printer → Printer Properties
3. Open Ports tab

If you see WSD → that’s the issue.

Now fix it:

Here’s something many people skip.

Why printers go offline again:

Your router changes the IP address.

Your computer still looks for the old IP → printer shows offline.

Fix:

1. Log into your router
2. Assign a static IP to your printer

👉 This prevents future disconnections.

Step 8: Check Firewall or Antivirus Blocking

Security software can block printer communication.

Quick test:

1. Disable firewall temporarily
2. Try printing

If it works:

Fix it:

• Allow printer through firewall
• Enable File and Printer Sharing
• Add printer IP as trusted

Step 9: Reinstall Ricoh Printer Driver
