She insisted on visiting the airfield to identify the aircraft as the investigator drove her home. She recognized the blue and white Piper Super Cub aircraft when they got there. Obtaining the owner's name, Robert Hansen, and the registration details from the airport was quite simple.

The local cops knew Hansen well. In addition to being an active member of the Lutheran church, he owned a neighborhood bakery that many of the officers visited.

After getting Hansen's address, the detective proceeded to interview him right away. When they got to his residence, Robert Hansen, Hansen's automobile, and the house all perfectly fit Paulson's description.
