It comes as something of a surprise that Strom accepted an a sistant pitching coach role. Hed been a teams top pitching voice for more than a decade. The Astros hired him as pitching coach going into the 2014 season. He quickly secured a reputation as one of the sports top coaches. He held a role on Torey Lovullos staff for three years. Strom will now work alongside pitching coach Oscar Marin in Pittsburgh.
