Libraries across the East Riding of Yorkshire are opening their doors to young fans for a series of Harry Potter–inspired sessions.

Although Harry Potter Book Day falls on 9 October, events are being held from Tuesday through 14 October at various local branches.

Activities aimed at children aged seven to eleven will include themed games, story readings and hands-on fun.

Councillor Nick Coultish, the council’s culture cabinet member, said the sessions tend to be lively and full of energy, bringing pleasure to both the children who attend and the staff who run them.

This year’s theme, “Friends and Foes,” invites participants to celebrate the power of friendship while exploring some of Potter’s most notable rivalries and adversaries.

Children are encouraged to come in costume.

A full schedule of dates, times and venues is available on the East Riding libraries website; tickets cost £3 per child and must be booked in advance, while accompanying adults can attend for free.
