Netflix Secures Exclusive Rights to Beloved Comedy Cult Classic Revival

In an exciting development for fans of comedic commentary on B-movies, the highly anticipated revival of a beloved cult series has found its streaming home. Netflix has announced it will exclusively distribute the new season across multiple English-speaking territories including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.

The crowdfunded reboot made history when its Kickstarter campaign broke world records as the highest-funded film and TV crowdfunding effort ever. The successful campaign, led by the original creator and Shout! Factory, exceeded its goal and secured funding for 14 fresh episodes.

This revival brings together both new and familiar faces. The original creator returns alongside a cast featuring comedian Jonah Ray in the host role and Felicia Day of Geek & Sundry fame as the new mad scientist antagonist. Several beloved original cast members will make appearances, reprising their iconic roles from the series' initial run.

The writing team boasts impressive comedy credentials, including contributions from notable names in television comedy and leadership from an Emmy-winning former Daily Show head writer.

The original series, which debuted in 1989, ran for eleven years and nearly 200 episodes across two networks. It earned critical acclaim, including Emmy nominations and a prestigious Peabody Award, while building a dedicated fan following. The show's premise—a human host and robot companions forced to watch terrible movies while providing humorous commentary—resonated with audiences and created a unique television format.

The production team for this new iteration includes numerous executive producers from both the original creative team and new production entities.
