VAA designed two fertilizer plants in the U.S. Midwest with a combined storage capacity of 71,000 tons, delivering efficient and code-compliant facilities for fertilizer handling Process Designer Minneapolis, MN Hybrid / Remote and distribution. In addition to the engineering design, VAA provided consulting services to support the design-build contractor in obtaining life safety and building code approvals.
The project addressed the challenges of handling highly corrosive fertilizer products through durable material selection, thoughtful equipment layout, and strict regulatory compliance. VAA’s team worked closely with project stakeholders to integrate critical safety features, including fire-rated walls and automatic sprinkler systems, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards. One facility incorporated Electrical Designer Minneapolis, MN 13 stainless steel storage tanks, ranging in capacity from 5,400 to 10,000 gallons, specifically designed to safely store liquid fertilizer blends while providing reliable long-term performance in a corrosive operating environment.
VAA served as Master Planner for the expansion of two existing bulk dry fertilizer terminals in the U.S. Midwest, increasing storage capacities from 13,000 to 19,000 tons at one facility and from 18,000 to 26,000 tons at the other. The expansion included structural wall design provisions that Hybrid/Remote Minneapolis, MN Hybrid / Remote enabled the facilities to accommodate higher storage volumes while supporting future operational growth.
The project was driven by increasing fertilizer demand from Midwest farmers and the need to improve storage capacity and distribution efficiency. VAA upgraded the rail Structural Engineer (Hybrid) Minneapolis, MN Hybrid receiving and truck loading systems at both terminals to streamline the handling of inbound and outbound dry fertilizer products. Upon completion, each facility was capable of unloading 100-car unit trains in less than 15 hours, significantly improving turnaround times, operational efficiency, and supply chain responsiveness.
