Post-curing, an optical scanner detects pinholes, craters, or dirt inclusions. This scanner uses a line-scan camera with LED backlighting; any defect larger than 0.5 mm triggers a marker spray for later rejection. A thickness gauge measures both total coating and individual layers via X-ray fluorescence. The data appears on a control panel, where the line manager can adjust the coater speed—slower speeds increase film build due to longer dwell time, but reduce output. The balance between speed and quality remains a daily challenge. At the exit, a turret winder changes reels automatically, using a knife to cut the strip and a suction table to hold the tail.
