Scissor lifts provide stable, vertically moving platforms for personnel, tools, and materials during construction, installation, inspection, and maintenance work. They are widely used across factories, warehouses, shopping centres, airports, infrastructure projects, and oil and gas facilities. In Saudi Arabia, equipment rental is gaining relevance because contractors can access specialized lifting platforms without carrying the purchase, storage, maintenance, and replacement costs associated with ownership.
According to MarkNtel Advisors, the Saudi Arabia scissor lift rental industry was valued at approximately USD 64 million in 2025 and is projected to reach USD 96 million by 2032. The rental utilization outlook represents an estimated CAGR of 5.96% during 2026–2032, supported by industrial development, infrastructure construction, facility maintenance, and growing interest in electric lifting equipment.
Industrial Development Creates Recurring Access Needs
Saudi Arabia is expanding its manufacturing, logistics, mining, tourism, and infrastructure capabilities under Vision 2030. New factories, distribution centres, commercial properties, utilities, and transport facilities require lifting equipment during both construction and routine operations.
Scissor lifts can support electrical installation, ceiling work, façade activity, fire-system servicing, ventilation maintenance, inventory management, and production-line repairs. Once a facility becomes operational, recurring inspections and equipment replacement continue to create demand beyond the initial construction phase.
Rental arrangements are particularly useful when a company needs several machines for a limited project or requires different platform heights at different stages. The customer can scale equipment use without committing capital to assets that may later remain idle.
Diesel Equipment Holds the Leading Position
Diesel scissor lifts accounted for approximately 80% of national rental demand in 2025. Their leading position reflects their suitability for heavy-duty outdoor work, rugged surfaces, remote projects, and long operating cycles.
Engine-powered platforms typically offer strong torque, substantial platform capacity, and fewer charging-related limitations. They are commonly used for structural installation, industrial construction, plant maintenance, and infrastructure work where electrical connections may not yet be available.
Saudi Arabia’s high temperatures, dust, and abrasive sand create demanding operating conditions. Rental providers therefore need regular inspection, cooling-system maintenance, hydraulic checks, filter replacement, and effective cleaning procedures to keep equipment available.
Compact Platforms Serve Everyday Operations
Scissor lifts with platform heights of up to 10 metres represented approximately 65% of the national industry in 2025. These compact machines are widely used in warehouses, retail properties, factories, airports, hotels, and commercial interiors.
Their smaller turning radius allows them to operate in restricted spaces and between warehouse aisles. Electric models within this category also generate lower noise and no direct exhaust emissions, making them suitable for enclosed or occupied environments.
The expansion of modern logistics facilities is likely to support this height class. Workers may use compact platforms for lighting replacement, sprinkler inspection, signage installation, inventory systems, ventilation servicing, and maintenance of automated warehouse equipment.
Renting Reduces Equipment Ownership Burdens
Purchasing lifting equipment requires considerable capital expenditure, along with storage space, insurance, transport, spare parts, inspections, and trained maintenance personnel. Rental services convert many of these responsibilities into a predictable project expense.
Rental providers can also offer delivery, collection, emergency support, operator training, and replacement equipment when a machine requires servicing. This is valuable for contractors managing several projects in different regions.
The official Saudi construction data portal shows the sector’s continuing importance to employment and economic activity. Sustained building and infrastructure work supports demand for flexible equipment fleets that can move between projects as schedules change.
Electric Fleets Support Cleaner Indoor Work
Electric and lithium-powered scissor lifts are becoming more visible as companies seek lower-emission and quieter equipment. These platforms can be charged at facilities and are well suited to indoor maintenance, commercial construction, warehousing, and urban projects.
The Saudi Green Initiative provides a wider national framework for emissions reduction and cleaner economic development. Although diesel platforms will remain important for demanding outdoor applications, sustainability requirements may encourage rental providers to expand electric fleets.
Battery performance, charging access, heat exposure, and operating duration remain important considerations. Rental companies must match each machine to the work environment rather than selecting equipment based only on fuel type.
Operator Safety Remains Essential
Scissor lifts provide a guarded working platform, but incorrect use can still lead to falls, overturning, collisions, crushing incidents, or contact with electrical hazards. Ground conditions, platform loading, wind, overhead obstructions, and nearby vehicle movement must be assessed before operation.
The OSHA fall-protection guidance emphasizes the need to protect workers operating at elevation. Equipment users should receive practical instruction covering inspections, emergency lowering, safe movement, load limits, and the correct use of guardrails and fall-protection systems where required.
The International Powered Access Federation also promotes safe and effective use of powered access equipment through operator training, technical guidance, and industry safety resources.
Fleet Quality Will Determine Long-Term Performance
Saudi Arabia’s scissor lift rental landscape is expected to become more digital, service-oriented, and diversified. Telematics can help providers monitor location, operating hours, charging status, faults, and maintenance requirements across large fleets.
Future competitiveness will depend on reliable equipment, responsive support, certified operators, and the ability to offer both rugged diesel platforms and cleaner electric alternatives. As construction and industrial facilities expand, rental providers that maintain high fleet availability and strong safety practices will be well positioned to meet growing vertical-access requirements.
